Changes Coming to the Regional Forest Economy Partnership Program
On August 14, the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) announced $7.2 Million in new awards to 9 projects, as part of the Regional Forest Economy Partnership (RFEP). 2019 was the first year of the RFEP program, which was created to focus on innovative initiatives to engage a regional approach in addressing the decline in forest-based economies. We are thrilled to have deployed all of our available funds for the RFEP program in 2019 in the first and second rounds, which means that we will not be entertaining Letters of Intent for the potential third round that was previously announced through this program’s Notice of Funding Opportunity.
NBRC has heard, and is responding to, feedback regarding this new program. RFEP is supported by an Advisory Board, which will work closely with NBRC staff and Commissioners in the coming months to clarify strategic alignment between Commission objectives and a new Notice of Funding Opportunity in 2020, contingent on available funds. Please stay tuned to our website for an announcement about the second year of RFEP, and thank you for your interest in the program!
