  • Today, the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) and U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development (RD) announced $1.9 million in funding for economic-development projects in Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont. The awards being made through this partnership will support community-driven initiatives in each state with a particular focus on outdoor recreation, business support and workforce development efforts. Congress has provided funds to the NBRC since 2019 for this partnership, which advances the strategic objectives of both agencies.

  • Today, the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) announced $27 Million in new awards as part of the Commission’s Catalyst Program spring competition. This includes $18 million in funding made available by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by President Biden - a key part of his Investing in America agenda.

  • Beginning today, healthcare providers located within the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) service area can apply for grant funds through the agency’s partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). A total of $3m in federal funds will be available through HRSA’s Rural Northern Border Region Outreach Program (RNBR-OP).

  • The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) has released the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the 2024 Workforce Opportunity for Rural Communities (WORC) program. Now in its sixth round, the program runs in partnership with the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the Delta Regional Authority (DRA), and the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC). The total pool of funds available across the three Commissions is $49.2 Million.

Highly competitive projects will demonstrate and widely promote the utility of high-value forest products (e.g. glued laminated timber, cross laminated timber, composite materials, etc.) in transportation infrastructure and commit to enhancing climate resilience in rural communities.
